I am a recently retired senior line manager with 30 year's experience in hiring. My career coincided with a period of explosive growth in my industry, so I had to quickly became  proficient at screening resumes, interviewing candidates and making hiring decisions. My experience taught me that the most prepared candidate -  and not necessarily the most qualified - often lands the dream job.  It became clear that high performing interviewees possess skills that are quite distinct from those listed in the job posting.   Upskilling  interviewee skills is likely the most effective investment into one's career.
